I highly recommend you go get the Hylian shield. Hylian Shield is strongly recommended for the final boss, since shield bashing is one way to expose it to damage. And don't forget to try the skyward strike during the very last part of the final boss. I suggest it doesn't matter, the battle isn't that hard.

The awkward fisherman does nothing but disturb the water. I've found it incredibly easy as have others but there are also some who have found it to be the hardest 3D Zelda also. I'd say it more has a high learning curve than high difficultly. After getting used to the controls there really aren't many challenges...
